Skiing Checklist For Beginners

Its a holiday I have thought about for many years but until now one I have shied away from. Possibly because of the children’s ages but also I’m a huge lover of the heat. This year we made the decision to go on our first ski holiday as a family, I also mentioned in my New Years Resolutions that we were planning to try and get away at Easter and now its booked ha. A very scary thought for newbies but also a very exciting one. So today I’m sharing a Skiing Checklist For Beginners. I have consulted many friends who are avid skiers and snowboarders for their hints and tips, so I’m using these to collate my checklist. I’m going to document our trip as well so it will be interesting to see after if we needed everything or did we, not bring enough.

As I mentioned above I have asked many friends what we need to take with us. We are planning on hiring our skis, boots, poles and helmets which means we have less to buy before going. We are also driving to France so we can bring more than someone who is flying. So what tips did I get from friends?

Base Layers

Mid Layers

Ski jacket

Sallopettes

Socks- Thin pairs for layering or ski socks

Gloves

Hats

Fleece

Googles

Backpack

Suncream

Sunglasses

Lipbalm

Neckwarmer

A lovely friend recommended using our Mini Boden PJs for base layers for the boys, which for me is a wonderful idea as we have an abundance of these. Another lady recommended Mountain Warehouse for packages. They do mens, ladies and children packages including ski jackets, salopettes, socks, gloves and a hat at very competeive prices. Ebay has also been recommended lots. As the boys are small these items will only last 1 season so buying cheper is a better option, especially if they don’t like it. Forte evening times I have been told to bring a few onesies for us all. Something warm to pop on when we get off the slopes. So that’s it my Skiing Checklist For Beginners if you have been before and have anything to add I would love to know 🙂

Oh my gosh this gave me flash backs to when my school took us skiing! I’ve not been since but this sounds like something we should have been shown before going off to ski haha!

A second pair of gloves could be useful as they can get quite wet quite quickly. Decathlon do these really thin like vest tops. I used these last week and they work really well. As you are hiring helmets, please make sure they are in good condition and fit well:) Have a great holiday:)

These are great tips, although I am the opposite to you, I enjoy the sun and sea more than cold and snow.

Sometimes I feel like the only person who’s never been skiing. The older I get the less likely I do thrill seeking things like this. Fab list though hun x

I hope to go on a family skiing holiday sometime in the future so this is very handy for me. I find the prospect terrifying but I want to try new things as a family

Fab post – this list is perfect for people who aren’t used to going skiing. My mum recently went away on her first ski trip and this checklist would have been perfect for her. I’ll definitely bookmark for next time 🙂

I have been a lot and know that this a a great checklist, as sometime newbies can be a little under prepared and overwhelmed, as so much kit is needed x
